Fragrance

Perfume oil is diluted with a solvent, normally alcohol (ethanol) to enhance a fragrances’ smell. The strength of the perfume oil determines a fragrances’ classification, concentration and in turn how long it remains on the skin.

Perfume Extract :– 15 – 30% concentration of perfume oil lasting between 6-8 hours

Eau De Parfum (EDP) :– 10 – 15% concentration of perfume oil lasting between 5-7 hours

Eau De Toilette (EDT) :– 5 – 20% concentration of perfume oil lasting between 4-6 hours

Eau De Cologne (EDC) :– 2 – 5% concentration of perfume oil lasting between 2-3 hours

The strength of a perfume, along with its’ volume play a part in determining the cost. This is why EDP bottles cost more than EDT’s as the fragrance is purer and lasts longer.

As well as being classified according to strength, fragrances can be broken down in to different families according to their scent. The most common classifications are:

Floral – fragrances that primarily consist of ingredients from rose, violet, orange-blossom, ylang-ylang and jasmine flowers

Oriental – full bodied fragrances that have an exotic warmth to them. Ingredients usually include spices, musk, resins and balsams

Chypre – these tend to be woody, mossy fragrances that are combined with citrus ingredients. Classically, they consist of oakmoss, citruses, bergamot and patchouli

Citrus – fragrances that primarily consist of citrus fruits such as lemon, tangerine, lime and bergamot which blend together to give a fresh scent

Fougère – fragrances that fall into this category are fresh with herbaceous and mossy notes

Green – green fragrances are predominantly produced from pine, grass, juniper and herbs with a predominant green feel.

Fragrances have a certain sense of volatility about them. When a fragrance is initially sprayed its light top notes are the first things smelt. These give a brief taster of the true fragrance. As the fragrance sinks into the skin and reacts with the body’s natural chemistry, the middle or heart notes are smelt. When the final range, the base notes appear the fragrance truly emerges. Although fragrances can be broken down into three ranges each one blends together to give a true symphony

Top notes: A fragrances’ top notes are light molecules that quickly evaporate after application. These are the notes that you would associate with a particular fragrance and which will ultimately determine sales popularity. Common top notes are ginger and citrus as they are fresh and sharp. These notes are designed to attract you to the scent.

Middle notes: These are the notes that begin to emerge as the top notes fade. It is the middle notes that form the true body of the scent. Middle notes tend to be softer than the initial top notes with rose and lavender commonly used.

Base Notes: The base notes of a fragrance, which tend to emerge as the middle notes fade, help to create the body of the scent. They evaporate slowly and are normally deep and rich scents that appear when a perfume reaches ‘dry-down’.

Unboxed Fragrances 

An unboxed fragrance is the same fragrance as the normal, manufactured boxed bottle, apart from its packaging. Our unboxed fragrances are items whose packaging has been damaged during transit. The fragrance inside the packaging is in perfect condition but unfortunately, the external boxes are not in a suitable condition for sale. 

All of our unboxed fragrances are guaranteed to be 100% genuine and come direct from a Wholesaler.

Unboxed Fragrances are heavily discounted compared to the normal boxed stock but in fact the only difference is the packaging!

Some unboxed fragrances, due to the damage incurred in transit, can lack the designer cap to the bottle. Where possible we try to replace this with plain plastic tubing to protect the spray element
