Issey Miyake is a Japenese designer that has been renowned for his technology driven clothing designs and exhibitions, which have pushed back the boundaries of fashion and design. In the late 1980s, Issey Miyake began to experiment with new methods of pleating that would allow both flexibility of movement for the wearer and ease of care and production. This eventually resulted in a new technique called garment pleating and in 1993 the unique Pleats Please collection, in which the garments are cut and sewn first, then sandwiched between layers of paper and fed into a heat press, where they are pleated. Issey Miyake perfumes are as unique and innovational as his fashion creations and have defined how people want to wear fragrances and also the aromas used in fragrances that followed his seminal L'Eau d'Issey for men and women.
